Going Mobile Again — A Writer and Entrepreneur’s "Vacation"

Ok, well maybe it’s not a vacation — but it is a little time away.

I’m packing my bags today to fly to Florida for a bit of time away. While in the Sunshine State, I’ll be meeting with my RemoteProfessionals.com partner to go over a bit of business, and I also hope to catch a few rays on a sunny beach (if it’s not too chilly).

The rest of the time I’ll be working on my writing. I’ve had a book that’s been collecting dust (and notes) for nearly three years now and a few months ago, I decided that December 31st was my deadline to have it written and ready.

So, a few days away from the regular grind is (hopefully) just the ticket to help me organize what I’ve already written, incorporate my more recent notes and get it a little further along. As soon as I return next week, I’ll have one day before I head off to the mountains (here in Kentucky) to have a couple more days to write.

By the time I return to the office on the 17th, it should be well on the way toward “publishable.”

I have decided that I need to do a couple retreats a year for a few days at a time to get my writing on the progressive track. And, with the end of the year in sight, there’s no time better than the present.

I know that a few days of writing won’t be enough to get it complete, but it may be enough to get me motivated to find the time to work on it more over the next couple months.

October is the 3rd anniversary of WickedWordCraft.com and I have several special things up my sleeve to celebrate. This is just one of them.

When I return, I hope to have something ready to unveil to the general public. Until then, I want to make progress on my book. Until I get this one written and out, I’ll not see my way clear to work on the next big project –a novel.

Hopefully, by this time next year — I’ll be taking a retreat to write my novel (or maybe I’ll be on the road and writing it while mobile — or while sitting on a mountain pass in Colorado, or someplace as yet undiscovered — but equally beautiful and conducive to a creative endeavor.)

For now, I have bags to pack. This week has been so busy, I’ve not even packed my clothes! I have miles to travel and loads of stuff to accomplish today — but by tonight, I’ll be in the air, on my way to Orlando, and preparing myself mentally for what I hope will be a few days of intense creativity and a writing extravaganza.

Some people vacation to rest, I want to “vacation” to create.
