Cleaning to Help Out: What I Did Over My Labor Day Weekend

What did I do over the long holiday weekend? Well, I actually took time away from the computer on Sunday (except for a quick blog) AND Monday (all day!). *GASP*

I also goofed off a bit, but more importantly, I did some cleaning and organizing and I pulled together a box full of canned goods and non-perishables to send to the collection trucks stationed all over the local area for relief from Katrina down south.

It’s a good idea to look at such horrid situations, just to remember how lucky we are on a regular, daily basis.

Personally, I try to steer clear of the news. I stay on top of the tech sector. I watch trends and are fascinated by the statistics indicating that the digital age is in “boom” mode.

But I try to skip reading about the murders, rapes, violence, gossip, etc. So, most of the “usual” news venues aren’t mine.

But this one, this one made me take a moment to say a prayer of thanksgiving. This one breaks my heart. So, taking my “down time” and spending it pulling together some stuff to send to help out… it just seemed like the right thing to do.

I hope everyone takes a moment to help out in their own way. Next time, it may be you (or me).

If you don’t have time to find what may be useful around your own home, consider a donation to the RedCross to help out with things needed, that don’t get donated. You can do it online at or by calling 1-877-568-3317.
